2024 Workshare Program

As a workshare you will participate in a wide variety of tasks and projects including: greenhouse work (seeding, maintaining seedlings), field work (seeding, transplanting, weeding, pest & disease control, foliar spraying etc.), fruit production (maintaining trees, bushes, etc.) and harvesting (including washing & packing) for our in-house chef as well as our visiting event chefs.

At times you may also work in the barn with our animals. We have four dairy goats plus ducks, guinea fowl, and hens (all for egg production). Animal care may involve daily feeding & watering, collecting eggs, etc.

Participation in beekeeping and maintaining the apiary is optional, and obviously only if you don't have an allergy.

Workdays are typically TUESDAY- SATURDAY, depending on the event schedule at the farm. We do try to keep the schedule as regular as possible.

WORKDAYS ARE RAIN OR SHINE, WITH FEW EXCEPTIONS.

Please plan and dress for the weather. Start time is most often 9 am. On days when especially hot temperatures are forecasted start time may be moved to 8 am.

Workshares receive an email sent to the list every Sunday or Monday with the dates and times for workdays in the coming week, including a link to the sign-up sheet. You are welcome to come the same day each week or make adjustments according to your schedule.

If you will be missing a week here or there for vacation or etc, of course that’s fine, but please give as much notice as possible.

REQUIREMENTS ARE:

• 5-6 hours (one day) of work each week for the workshare season in exchange for a full CSA share. The season typically begins in mid May and runs until Thanksgiving week. Start time is 9 am.
• Transportation to and from the farm.
Commitment for the season (for workshare only) is vitally important. We depend on our workshares to help us keep the farm on track, and we ask that you take this commitment seriously.

If you're not sure about your ability/availability to commit to the majority of workdays (of course we know most people will miss a week here and there) our volunteer program may be a perfect fit for you.

Please let me know if:
• You have any farming/home gardening experience. Having experience is not necessary, but I need an idea of your experience/comfort level with basic farm work.
• You have any physical limitations such as frequent bending/kneeling, lifting, prolonged heat or sunlight exposure, etc.
• You are allergic to bees or have any other allergies.

Your weekly CSA shares (which you will harvest) will include a variety of fresh, organic heirloom produce and fruit, herbs, eggs when available, honey when available, cut flowers when available.
