Community Supported Agriculture and Education

Workshare & Volunteer

Please review the details below regarding our programs and how to inquire. The 2025 CSA Workshare program is currently waitlisted, but our volunteer program is not capped. We hope to see you on the Farm this spring!

These programs, offered weekly from spring through Thanksgiving, are zero-cost and our most hands-on opportunities for education, engagement, food distribution, and recipe/preservation instruction (including the recent addition of a cookbook library). In order to experience, learn, and take home a variety of harvests during a growing season at Churchview, all that’s required is a willingness to learn and gain new experiences in a collaborative environment. Because Churchview is a working farm, we cannot host anyone under the age of 13 in this program and anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Churchview Farm is a teaching and learning space that could not exist without our amazing force of volunteers, interns and CSA workshares. Their efforts and dedication are what keep us going and growing, and our mission is to bring the community to the Farm. Spend a few hours of your time working with us in the fresh air and sunshine, and leave with delicious, healthy food, a unique learning experience, satisfyingly sore muscles, and a well-earned farmer’s tan.

Please note: we do not offer a paying CSA membership; our Workshare and Volunteer programs are no-cost hands-on educational experiences, where members of the community participate in all aspects of small-scale food production and take home the produce, herbs, and fruit grown at Churchview.

· Workshare vs Volunteer ·

What’s the difference between workshare and volunteer?

Volunteers are on the same weekly email list, but sign up for workdays as they’re able with no commitment. Everyone, including volunteers, always leave with food but in less quantity and variety that those those in the workshare program, and typically without extras like eggs or honey. Full “shares” are given to workshares each week. First priority for signup is also given to workshares (eg. there is often little to no space on Saturdays during the summer for volunteers). Volunteers and workshares perform the same or similar tasks, and everyone starts together at 9 am. Volunteers need only commit three hours (to noon) on any given workday.

Workshares commit to 5-6 hours (9 am though 2ish pm) on the Farm once a week during our growing season (April - Thanksgiving) in exchange for a full CSA share, and we accept a limited number of workshares each season.

Please review our Workshare Guidelines and send us an email if you are interested in signing up. Workshare opportunities are first come first serve, but volunteer opportunities are always available. Just ask to be added to our weekly email list, and sign up when you’re able to join us!

Both workshares and volunteers come to Churchview to learn and engage with a community of growers, and everyone leaves with bountiful fresh, healthy food and lots of recipes and preservation ideas, provided by Farmer Tara and local chefs. Gardening/farming experience is not necessary or required, simply a willingness to learn.

Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

We are proud to maintain a safe and responsible outdoor space to engage and learn. Any language, clothing, or accessories that promote disrespect to any person or entity will not be tolerated.
